This is we believe one of the most detailed reviews of national allergy burden ever undertaken. It will we hope provide a stimuls for similar research in other parts of the world. The very high proportion of the Scottish population now affected also underscores the urgent need to identify safe and effective primary prevention interventions for allergy.
