Genetic Variants of TCF7L2 are Associated with Insulin Resistance and Related Metabolic Phenotypes in Taiwanese Adolescents and Caucasian Young Adults

These findings support an important role of TCF7L2 in insulin resistance, in addition to the well-known effect on insulin secretion, which leads to increased risk to T2D and some other insulin resistance-related phenotypes. This data provides evidence showing that different variants of the same gene might be associated with risk of T2D through different mechanism.
