Effect of contrast media on single-shot echo planar imaging: Implications for abdominal diffusion imaging
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 11/10/09
Gulani V et al. – Maximal contrast–related signal losses relative to precontrast signal are 20%, 20%, 53%, and 67% for the liver, pancreas, renal cortex, and medulla, respectively. The SIs remain statistically below the precontrast values for 5, 4, and 1 minute for the pancreas, liver, and spleen, and for all times measured for the renal cortex and medulla. Abdominal diffusion imaging should be performed prior to contrast due to adverse effects on the signal in ssEPI.
