New options in treating lid wiper epitheliopathy
Ophthalmology Times Europe , 10/27/09
In a recent study a corticosteroid and an oil–in–water emulsion eye drop were equally effective in the initial treatment of lid wiper epitheliopathy. The oil–in–water emulsion was also effective in maintaining improvement of the epithelium over a 12–month period. In this study, 40 patients were treated for 1 month with loteprednol etabonate ophthalmic suspension 0.5% and 40 were treated with a metastable oil–in–water emulsion for lipid augmentation; 30 untreated patients served as the control group.
