Reid D et al. – Circumferential electrical contact burns of the finger are relatively rare. A few isolated case reports can be found in the literature and predominantly involve young males. These burns occur primarily in young working people whose metal jewelry comes into contact with a low voltage burn source, such as a car battery. This exposure results in an isolated yet deep burn to the area of skin underneath the metal jewelry. Because these injuries are unusual, no well–defined treatment strategy has been reported. This article offers a review of the literature as well as our experience treating this type of injury.
