Lam JT et al. - Rate of adverse events was better than the average reported in industrialised nations. Leading adverse events were infection and bleeding/haematoma. Seventeen percent of adverse events identified could have been modified had a 'sign-out' process been followed. Implementation of WHO recommendations has the potential to reduce surgical adverse events.
