Prevalence of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage in healthcare workers
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 12/11/08
Ibarra M et al. - Thirty (12%) of 257 healthcare workers were colonized with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). There was no significant difference in MRSA colonization among physicians (13%), nurses (12%), and other healthcare professionals (11%). Potential risk factors for MRSA colonization were found in 90% or more of all subjects, including those with MRSA and methicillin-susceptible S. aureus nasal carriage, as well as in persons who were not colonized.
