After attending this meeting, participants should be able to: Describe how to develop and manage an observation unit based on published evidence and best practices. Discuss the potential impact of observation medicine on the ED, the hospital, and patients with specific clinical conditions. Describe an evidence based approach to managing selected clinical conditions in the EDOU. This includes: Patient selection, management in the EDOU, and what beneficial clinical outcomes may be expected.
