Tympanometry in general practice: use, problems
and solutions
Family Practice, 08/03/2012
Exclusive author commentary
Lous J et al. – The use of tympanometry is very skewed. A 6–hour course could improve general practitioners (GPs)’ care of patients with middle ear problems by using tympanometry.
Jørgen Lous (08/05/2012) comments:
Tympanometry can improve the diagnosis of middle ear disease.
Tympanometry is difficult to use for many GP's and difficult to understand and use in daily clinic.
This paper descibe most of the problems and try to give solutions to the GP or their nurses. That mean how to use it tecnically and how to understand the curves and use the result in the handling of patients.
We hope the paper will be used by many both as postgraduate teaching, medical students and nurses.
Yours Jorgen Lous
