Waterhouse J et al. – Healthy individuals performing submaximal exercise not only worked harder with faster music but also chose to do so and enjoyed the music more when it was played at a faster tempo. Implications of these findings for improving training regimens are discussed.

The results applied also to the same pieces of music played faster, and so made to sound more "lively", even though their pitch was unchanged. Since the value of training is in the work done rather than perceived effort, playing faster music might be beneficial.
