Investigating the role of PDGF as a potential drug therapy in bone formation and fracture healing
Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 10/05/09
Graham S et al. – Evidence to date suggests that PDGF–BB, and to a lesser extent PDGF–AA, may have potential therapeutic use in the treatment of osteoporosis and bone healing in humans. Additionally, by targeting alpha–receptors on osteoblasts, a potential anabolic effect on bone metabolism in humans can be anticipated; however, more research needs to be done to assess the role of beta–receptors in human bone.
