A Two-Portal Posterior Endoscopic Approach in the Treatment of a Complex Talus Fracture
Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 10/01/09
Ogut T et al. – The authors report a 24–year–old man with a complex talus fracture involving the posterior part of the talar body and posterolateral process. He was treated endoscopically, with a two–portal posterior approach to the hindfoot. This approach allowed a better visualization and treatment of accompanying pathologies.

| I think this is the first reported talus fracture in the literature which is treated endoscopically with a two portal posterior approach. I wanted to share here that this technique can be used safely for posterior part talar body fractures. You can also prevent late complications of the fracture like FHL tenosynovitis, peroneal tenosynovitis or arthrofibrosis by early debridement and removal of ossicles and scar tissues from the subtalar joint, from the fibroosseous tunnel of the FHL tendon and from the posterior part of peroneal tendons. |
