Intramuscular haemangioma and periosteal new bone formation on the adjacent bone: case report and literature review
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 09/15/09
Mnif H et al. – The authors present a rare case of intramuscular haemangioma of the tibialis anterior adjacent to bone in a 32–year–old woman with the history suggestive of right tibial fracture. Plain radiographs showed an hypertrophic periosteal reaction and a thickening on the cortical shaft of the tibia. MRI revealed an intramuscular mass adjacent to the bone with inhomogeneous high signal intensity. The lesion was treated by resection of the soft–issue mass.
