Caesar BC et al. – The results represent a clearance of infection of 85.3%, with recurrence in 11.8%. They are comparable to the results of the Papineau and Belfast techniques, but with considerably less surgical insult to the patient.

| The long term results from this procedure are encouraging in a group of patients who are often caught between the difficult decision of living in pain with chronic infection and associated discharge, or undertaking extensive and destructive surgery to try to "cure" them. We believe that this procedure produces comparable results to the more aggressive surgical procedures with less insult to the patient. These results are out to 10 years with 85% of patients clear of infection. |
