Radiographic Appearance of Hunter Tendon Rod Implant during Staged Flexor Tendon Reconstruction of the Hand
Radiology Case Reports, 08/31/09
Tozer KR et al. – The authors report a case of staged flexor tendon reconstruction utilizing a silicon Hunter tendon rod implant. The implant is removed and tendon graft is placed during the second stage of the procedure. Radiography is used after the first stage of the procedure to assess for healing of concomitant bony injury as well as to evaluate position and integrity of the tendon implant. It is important that radiologists recognize the Hunter tendon rod implant and understand potential complications to aid in interpretation of images in these patients.
