Panchbhavi VK et al. – One of the established methods of stabilization in the management of foot and ankle pathology is the use of an external fixator with fine wires and a circular frame. The frame is also used at times as an adjunct to internal fixation. Internal fixation in conditions such as acute Charcot neuroarthropathy and osteoporosis can be tenuous and adding external fixation can impart further stability. The following technique was designed to offload the foot completely without relying on the compliance or the ability of the patient. It allows the patient to bear weight on the extremity without loading the reconstruction or the zone of injury in the foot.
