Can We Improve Fixation and Outcomes? Use of Bone Substitutes
Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 06/25/09
Moroni A et al. - Hip fractures secondary to osteoporosis are common in the elderly. Stabilizing these fractures until union is achieved is a challenge due to poor bone stock and insufficient purchase of the implant to the bone. The reported high rate of complications has prompted extensive research in the development of fixation techniques.
