Dealing With Lateral Skin Deficiency in Rigid Adult Flatfoot: Talonavicular-Calcaneus Arthrodesis Through a Medial Approach
Techniques in Foot & Ankle Surgery, 06/08/09
Brilhault J - Wound healing problems have been reported in up to one third of major flatfoot reconstructions performed through anterolateral approaches because closure is performed under tension after correction of the deformity. Therefore, in patients with deficient lateral skin and nonarthritic calcaneocuboid joint, arthrodesis of the subtalar and talonavicular joints through a limited medial approach offers correction of the deformity while sparing the lateral skin and the uninvolved calcaneocuboid joint.
