Maddess T et al. – The method produced diagnostic accuracy approaching that of automated perimetry, but unlike perimetry provides standard errors for every point in each field as well as information on response delay and efferent defects. Only one pupil needs to function to measure both visual fields.

| The work described in this paper is now 4 years old. More recently we have moved to 44 region/eye stimuli. Those stimuli have low blue content to reduce between subject variance caused by different amounts of absorption of blue light by the eyes of different subjects. The device, the TrueField perimeter, now has FDA clearance. It may also have value in early stage diabetic retinopathy IOVS doi:10.1167/iovs.09-3659. |
