Detection of Localized Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Defects with Posterior Pole Asymmetry Analysis of Spectral-domain Optical Coherence Tomography Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, 05/11/2012

Seo JH et al. – Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) posterior pole asymmetry analysis (PPAA) detects localized retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) defects with high sensitivity and specificity, which are comparable to the circumpapillary RNFL thickness profile of OCT. These findings suggest that the PPAA can be complementary to other tests for diagnosing glaucoma in patients with localized RNFL defects.
