Predicting glaucomatous progression in glaucoma suspect eyes using relevance vector machine classifiers for combined structural and functional measurements

Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, 04/09/2012

In the authors' sample, relevance vector machine analyses of baseline confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope (CSLO) and standard automated perimetry (SAP) measurements could identify eyes that showed future glaucomatous progression with a higher accuracy than the CSLO and SAP global indices.

Author Commentary

In fact, global indices from CSLO (HRT Glaucoma Probability Score) and SAP (Mean Deviation and Pattern Standard Deviation) were not able to discriminate between baseline tests from eyes that remained stable or eyes that progressed in the future, at all.
