Transfusion-transmitted anaplasmosis from leukoreduced red blood cells

Leukoreduction theoretically reduces the risk of transfusion–transmitted anaplasmosis (TTA) but does not interdict all infections. TTA requires consideration in recipients of red blood cells (RBCs) transfusion with unexplained fever.
