Incidence of Post Dural Puncture Headache: 25 Gauge Quincke VS 25 Gauge Whitacre Needles
Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 10/13/09
Oberoi R et al. – Post dural puncture headache (PDPH) is a very distressing complication of Sub–arachnoid block (SAB) and is very common in females of reproductive age group. The present study was done to compare the incidence of PDPH with 25G Quincke vs 25G Whitacre spinal needles in females undergoing lower segment caesarean section (LSCS). Whitacre spinal needle is associated with lesser incidence of PDPH and should be preferred to Quincke needle to achieve SAB in patients undergoing LSCS.
