Krentz AJ et al. - The authors measured fasting serum ghrelin concentrations in a cohort of community-dwelling postmenopausal women with a putative polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) phenotype. Ghrelin levels were reduced in women with the phenotype compared with nonaffected control women, supporting hypothesis that a phenotype analogous to PCOS can be identified in postmenopausal women.
