Trehan AK et al. - Laparoscopic vaginal apex excision is a safe and effective management option after carefully excluding other causes of deep dyspareunia and chronic pelvic pain. Exclusive Author Commentary
Ashwini K. Trehan, 06/26/09

There are thousands of women who suffer with chronic pelvic pain and dsypareunia, following a hysterectomy and as Gynaecologists have removed the organ (uterus +/- ovaries) it is felt that nothing more could be offered to these women and invariably they are sent to the pain clinic for management for the rest of their lives. In the pain clinic they are usually offered drugs which are usually addictive in nature if taken for long periods. This article highlights that we Gynaecologists can help these women from their suffering by offering them vaginal apex excision procedure as mentioned in the paper above.
