As published in Cardiovascular Diabetology, an elevated retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) level was shown to be associated hypertriglyceridemia and coronary artery calcification, but not other cardiometabolic risk factors, such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, elevated CRP, and increased CIMT.
