Podnar S et al. – The study demonstrates that patients with hypercapnic respiratory failure and reduced phrenic nerve compound motor action potential (CMAP) amplitude most probably have a neuromuscular disorder affecting the diaphragm and not chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or other lung disorder.
