- Presence of symptomatic patent ductus arteriosus is common in small preterm infants and ibuprofen is commonly used for its medical closure.
- While efficacy is comparable to indomethacin, there are few case reports of severe hypoxemia and pulmonary hypertension following prophylactic ibuprofen administration.
