Roy Chowdhury SK et al. – The data suggest that the development of distal axonopathy in diabetic neuropathy is linked to nutrient excess and mitochondrial dysfunction via defective signalling of the adenosine monophosphate–activated protein kinase/peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor γ coactivator–1 α (PGC–1α) pathway.
