More than ever, Oncology Nurse Navigators are taking a more active role with their patients throughout the cancer care continuum. This expanded role has led to a need to improve clinical practice and develop a better understanding of optimizing care and navigational skills for individuals. ONNs must stay abreast of treatment advances, treatment options, insurance requirements, financial obstacles, quality of life issues, and the integration of survivorship principles into clinical practice as well as the ever-changing health care climate.
