Oramasionwu GE et al. – Children diagnosed in Houston with severe malaria usually had traveled from the United States to malaria–endemic regions without benefit of appropriate prophylaxis. Malaria–related morbidity in nonendemic countries could potentially be reduced by optimizing adherence to prophylactic regimens.
