Nursing Students Response to Tobacco Cessation Curricula in Minnesota Baccalaureate Nursing Programs

Lenz BK – Two of 10 programs contained all items of content and these students were significantly more knowledgeable, whereas 8 of the programs did not cover the content adequately and students were less knowledgeable. Minimal clinical application was reported by students in all 10 of the programs. Essential competencies regarding health promotion for tobacco cessation need to be established. Programs need to include all three domains of learning including cognitive, skill acquisition, and attitudes or beliefs.
