How to Handle a Complaint from a Professional Licensure Board
The Journal for Nurse Practitioners , 10/16/09
Philipsen NC et al. – A letter of complaint from a licensee's professional licensing board is always a serious matter, requiring immediate attention. The right response can lead to the right outcome, but the wrong response can result in the loss of a professional license. A positive response includes carefully assessing the complaint, following directions, being well organized, learning about the state practice act and administrative law, understanding options, accepting criticism, and possibly hiring an attorney.
