Postpartum management of the perineum
British Journal of Midwifery, 09/11/09
Bick D – Despite pain being experienced by hundreds of thousands of women who give birth each year in the UK, and many more worldwide, identification and management of perineal morbidity, including pain, dyspareunia, wound infection and haematoma has not been a high priority. The postnatal management of more severe perineal trauma, third and fourth degree tears, has also been relatively neglected.
