Analysis of a Patient Case from a Legal Perspective

Grandjean C et al. – A growing number of malpractice claims are being filed against nurse practitioners (NPs). The following synopsis, based on real events, presents the case of a morbidly obese patient with low back pain who appeared for treatment at the emergency department. The care provided to this patient is analyzed from a legal perspective so that advance practice nurses may improve the care provided to similar patients and avoid some practice pitfalls.
