Pandemic influenza planning by videoconference
Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, 10/16/09
Kimball AM et al. – The overall experience of the event was rated highly. Partnering public health, technology and business communities to discuss best practices in preparedness using videoconferencing may be an effective way to improve regional preparedness. Utilization of videoconferencing on a routine basis should be considered to improve preparedness among APEC members and enhance its usability during a pandemic.

| As pandemics become more frequent, public health response needs to become more nimble as well. We are grateful to our partners for their support in bringing the high speed research and education networks into the mission of pandemic preparedness. As we have now seen with H1N1, new pathogens can travel rapidly in our modern globalized world. Our transnational videoconferencing with APEC member economies demonstrates one means of improving pandemic preparedness. |
