The association between isoinertial trunk muscle performance and low back pain in male adolescents

Balague F et al. – Regular involvement in sport was a consistent predictor of LBP. Isoinertial trunk performance was not associated with LBP in adolescents.

| In our opinion, the reported findings don't support some simplistic views about juvenile low back pain i.e. weak muscles are the cause of lumbar pain, or sports activities have a prophylactic value for teenagers. In these age groups low back pain is a complex multidimensional issue like in adults. "Easy" solutions for that problem should be analyzed very cautiously. |
