Salameh K et al. – This study revealed that there was a sharp significant decline in neonatal and perinatal mortality rates during the study period in Qatar. The stillbirth, neonatal and perinatal mortality rates in Qatar are comparable with those in some of the developed countries and were lower than those in some of the Gulf countries. The proportion of underweight live births was found constant during the study period.

Dr S Rahman, 08/05/09

The study presents very useful data about Perinatal Health Care development in the Arabaim Gulf; a region undergoing very rapid socio cultural change due to exponental oil and gas based economic growth. The trends in Neonatal Perinatal Mortality rates in Qatar provide a a very sound basis for health care strategists in designing their plans "how and where to invest to reduce global burden of Neonatal Perinatal deaths."
