Headache in Young Children in the Emergency Department: Use of Computed Tomography
Pediatrics, 06/30/09
Lateef TM et al. - For young children presenting to the ED with headache but normal neurologic examination findings and nonworrying history, CT scanning seldom leads to diagnosis or contributes to immediate treatment. A family history often is contributory and should be part of the evaluation of young children with headache in the ED. CT imaging poses risk, is expensive, and usually is without benefit.
