Heran BS - ACE inhibitors did not differ from each other for BP lowering. In general, one-eighth or one-quarter of the maximum recommended dose lowered BP by 60–70% of the maximum effect; half maximum doses lowered BP by 90% of the maximum effect; above-maximum and maximum doses did not differ. The estimates of near maximal BP lowering for all ACE inhibitors were –7.7 mm Hg (95% CI –8.4 to –6.9) and –4.6 mm Hg (CI –5 to –4.2) for systolic and diastolic BP, respectively. Less than maximum doses of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors lower blood pressure to near maximum levels in primary hypertension.
