Journal of Neurosurgery, 09/04/09
Riffaud L et al. – Long-term survival is possible in adults treated for medulloblastoma. Metastasis seeding at presentation is a poor prognostic factor.
Methods- 27 patients ≥ 16 y/o
- 5- and 10-y survival rates were 81% and 62%, respectively
- Median OS was 17.7 y
- 5- and 10-y event-free survival were 72% and 57%, respectively
- Median event-free survival time was 17.9 y
- Survival was correlated with female gender and M stage
- 11/27 patients had a recurrence at a median time of 4.2 y
- The posterior fossa was the most common site of recurrence
- Median survival time after dx of recurrence was 2.5 y; 100% mortality rate despite aggressive tx
