Evaluation of humoral immune response in adaptive immunity in ALS patients during disease progression
Journal of Neuroimmunology, 08/24/09
Saleha IA et al. – Results suggest a humoral immune response initiating adaptive immunity in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), however, the cellular immune response is pending further study for verification.
Methods- Study of humoral immune response in ALS pts during disease progression
- Evaluation of circulating immune complexes (CICs), IgG, and IgM in sera of ALS pts and matching controls
- Significantly elevated CICs and IgG in ALS pt sera
- At second pt visit: CICs decreased to control levels; IgG remained higher vs controls; serum IgM within normal range
