Chiari Type I malformation presenting with bilateral hearing loss
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 07/30/09
Dolgun H et al. – The authors describe a 44–year–old female patient presenting with bilateral hearing loss with hydrocephalus coexisting with Chiari Type I malformation and a unilateral arachnoid cyst. Thus, sensorineural hearing loss may be caused by hydrocephalus with Chiari Type I malformation. The placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt without a posterior fossa decompression is an effective treatment.
