Co-morbidities of vertiginous diseases

Warninghoff JC et al. – General conclusions are that the prevalence of the co-morbidities diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, migraine, other headache, and obesity are not increased compared with the general population; however, an increased prevalence of psychiatric co-morbidity in pts with phobic vertigo is reported.
Methods- Survey of all pts from cohort of 131 subjects
- Standardized questionnaire about co-morbidities hypertension, diabetes mellitus, body mass index, migraine, other headache, and psychiatric diseases in general and likelihood of depression in particular
- Hypertension in 29.0% of cohort
- Diabetes mellitus in 6.1%
- Migraine in 8.4%
- Other headache in 32.1%
- Psychiatric diseases in 16.0%
- Overweight and obesity in 33.6% and 13.7% respectively
- Clinical indication for depression in 15.9%
