De Santis G et al. - Neuromyelitis optica is associated with antibodies to aquaporin-4 channels and has been classically defined as the occurrence of bilateral optic neuritis and transverse myelitis with no other neurological involvement.

According with recent progresses in neuromyelitis optica findings, this is an original report about a possible case of a paraneoplastic Devic's disease. So, actually, etiopathogenesis of Devic's disease is still debated. Starting from the consideration that neuromyelitis optica is retained to be strictly related to antibodies production (NMO-IgG), we describe herein a case where the paraneoplastic production of NMO-IgG might trigger the development of the disease.
