Optic neuritis: Results with pulse methylprednisolone

Methods- Retrospective study of effectiveness of methylprednisolone in management of optic neuritis
- Review of 55 optic neuritis pts admitted 2001-2007 to Neuro-Ophthalmology Division of Ege University
- Comparision of results with current literature
- Pulse steroid therapy by suggested dose regimen for 39 pts seen during first 10 days of symptoms
- No medications for 16 pts admitted after first 10 days of symptoms
- Of 39 pts, 3 did not comply with regular follow-ups
- Mean improvement time of 36 pts receiving steroid therapy: 11.1 days
- Mean improvement time of pts not receiving any medication: 41 days
