Description: The objective of this course is to offer an update on the latest research findings and clinical applications in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. As a result of attending this course, participants will be able to identify the bio?psycho?social factors associated with ASD, as well as to identify different treatment modalities. They will be able to: differentiate how Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and related disorders impact different age groups and different relationships; how to identify factors contributing to resiliency in patients; which medications work best; and what are the risk factors for individuals on the spectrum. Behavior, social skills and socialization issues will be among the core issues discussed. The course is intended for mental health and medical practitioners, researchers, educators, and others interested in understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders.
