Lhatoo SD et al. – Prolonged postictal generalized electroencephalographic (EEG) suppression (>50 seconds) appears to identify refractory epilepsy patients who are at risk of Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. Risk of Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy may be increased in direct proportion to duration of postictal generalized electroencephalographic suppression.
