Acute antibody-mediated rejection after ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation treated successfully with antigen-specific immunoadsorption

In summary we report on the first known patient treated with ABOi kidney transplantation in accordance with the Tydén protocol, who developed aAMR caused be ABO antibodies (anti-B). An anti-rejection regime by ABO antigen-specific IA, methylprednisolone and IVIG efficiently cleared the graft kidney for deposited immunoglobulins, and normal kidney function was re-established. We suggest that aAMR caused by ABO antibodies can be treated with ABO antigen-specific IA in combination with IVIG and methylprednisolone.
