Problem in analyzing cystine stones using FTIR spectroscopy
Urological Research - Urolithiasis, 08/04/09
Marickar YMF et al. – All the analysis findings were correlated with EDAX findings. On doing EDAX, we could separately find out the components present in a mixture. Three stones contained elemental pattern to fit with those of cystine. Even though it is difficult to find out the presence of cystine molecule in FTIR, it is possible to recognize it through EDAX and will be possible to confirm the presence of cystine in mixed urinary stones.

| Cystine stone is very uncommon in many places. In such areas, confirmation of cystine stone is very crucial. Problems are faced in accurate diagnosis of cystine stones. We present our problems and identify the utility of SEM EDAX in solving this problem in totality. |
